It’s Sunday morning and I have a great chance to do a NaBloPoMo post, what great luck!

Wait, I have nothing to say.  Seriously.  Nothing.  I’m actually still mainly asleep.

Type the words “baby wrist” into google and before you get to a plethora of baby wrist rattles you get three references to a Grand Rounds paper on maternal overuse of wrists.  Guess which one of those I care about?

Was feeling grouchy last night and went on the hunt to buy some pants that fit.  I found a completely cute and over the top baby Christmas dress along with them.  I think it is a good thing that I have a friend who has a baby girl or else JC would have a tough time explaining some of his baby photos!!!  I took it to my friends house and the little girl wanted to put it on right away … at which point I noticed that some of the ribbons look a lot like … well… stripper t!tty tassles.  Oops.

2. Favorite late night snack? A spoon of peanut butter dipped in honey.
3. Do you own a gun? Two. I haven’t gone to the range in awhile but I used to love it.
4. What’s your favorite drink at Starbucks or other specialty coffee shop? Decaf pepermint mocha is crack in a cup.
5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointments? Nope. But at the denist they have to meet me at the door with gas.
6. What do you think of hot dogs? I think they should be given fresh water and a cool place in the shade to relax.
7. Favorite Christmas song? The Bare Naked Ladies version of Jingle Bells.
8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning? What I want in a Dunkin’Donuts medium decaf with cream and sugar, what I drink is water.
9. Can you do push-ups? You won’t make me prove it if I say yes, right?
10. What’s your favorite piece of jewelry? The wedding ring I no longer wear.
11. Favorite hobby? Redisovering reading, checking up on the women who live in my computer.

The new James Bondwas awful.  Amazingly, head-shakingly bad.  Less nauseating than the Borne movies, but no story and no skin just 3 minutes of talking and then another action sequence.  Daniel Craig’s stunt guy is good at running on ledges so he did that a lot.  The characters all had color names Mr. White, Mr. Green which could have been like Reservoir Dogsbut instead felt like Clue.  I was just waiting for Miss Scarlet to show up in the library with a candlestick.  ARGH.  I’ve been looking forward to this movie since they rolled the credits on the last one, but I kept in mind that Bond is not normally a good piece of film making but a fun way to kill a couple of hours.  Alas.  Not this time.

What I should have told you about on Monday was my kick-butt cooking moment.  I got home with 50 minutes before Mister and JC would get home.  So I got down to business:

Cut/chop 2 zucchini, a package of mushrooms, and an onion.  Get out 2 pie crusts, 2 cans of garbanzo bean, a can of black beans, a can of refried black beans, 2 bags of frozen veggies, some fresh spinach, flour, veggie stock, tortillas, and a couple secret ingredients.  In 50 minutes I had 2 vegan pot pies and enough vegan burritos to make a couple of meals.

I RULE!

Heck, I even cleaned up some.  :)

I really did post that last {useless} post on the 17th, but I have never bothered to fix the time stamp on this blog so it showed up on the 18th.  I am dissapointed, but I know that I am sticking to my NaBloPoMo commitment to myself {even if I did it this time by waking up just before midnight}.

It doesn’t say anything, but at least I posted.

You would have been 39 years old today.  There is almost no reason to believe that you ever would have seen this age, still, you were gone too soon.  Your namesake asked your youngest brother about you the other day.  He was heartbroken to learn that he couldn’t call you and talk to you.

You are loved, and missed.  Always, all ways.

I have made it half way through NaBloPoMo and it is James Bond day !!  WHoo hoo!!

Most of my trips to the ED have been because a better / more cost-effective choice was closed.  Same with last night.  I had talked to JC’s doctor’s office and they said do X at one temperature and Y {aka the ED} at another.  Then called back and said, “just call us if it gets to X”.  Ok, no problem, especially since what I was looking for was some sort of idea about when an infant temperature escalates to OMG status.

At 1a, Mister takes a diaper / temp shift because I hadn’t slept much yet in the night.  The next thing I heard was, “get dressed” because we had slept through X and gotten straight to Y.  Damn.  Ok.  Called to doctor’s office who sent us to the ED.  We got good care and good advice, and we watched JC’s fever break because by the time we got through with the trip he was back to normal.

Mister has a tough time with the cost and behavior of medical professionals, but overall he was ok with this trip.  Still, neither of us liked watching JC get cath’d TWICE to check for a UTI.  The only downside to the whole night was, “I see the problem, JC isn’t circumcised”.  I know what the RN *wanted* to say was, “I see why this is tougher than usual” but it just came out.  WRONG.  Ah well.  Overall, a very good experience.
